In what ways was the American Revolution a conservative event?

The American Revolution was a conservative event because it reinforced slavery. The government didn't change very much & the women had the same roles in the house, just as they had before.

Which political theories did the American colonists use to justify their revolution? Why did they choose these?

"No taxation without representation."The British didn't respect the colonists or let them become independent, which angered the colonists. The British didn't ever ask the colonists when they were making changes with political rights. If the government is not protecting your rights then you have the right to change it. The colonists wanted political rights.

Would the United States have been able to win the conflict against the British without the aid of its allies?

I personally do not think that the United States would haven been able to win without the help of France and Spain. The fact that the French gave the American's almost a million pounds of ammunition and gunpowder. Then Spain gave America a WHOLE BUNCH of different weapons. Even though this doesn't have to do with the allies, I think that knowing the whole layout of the location of war really helped America also since they knew all of the good hiding areas and how to "trick" the British.

What role did Allies play in the winning of the American Revolution?

These are two main alliances that played a part in the winning of the American Revolutionary War:

France; The American's lacked in allies, and so they turned toward France. France wasn't really interested in becoming one of their allies, but just took it upon as an opportunity to contest British power by supporting a new British opponent.
Secretly, France's foreign minister was given authorization to sell gunpowder and ammunition to the Americans. The French gave close to 1,000,000 pounds under a Portuguese company.

Spain; Spain consistently supported the colonists throughout the war. The first thing that they did was join with a trading company that provided military supplies. The Spain aid was supplied to the colonies through four main routes: from the French ports with the military supplies, to the port of New Orleans and  went up the Mississippi River, from the warehouses in Havana, and from Bilbao, through the Gardoqui family trading company.

What were the American & British strategies for winning the war?

The initial plan for the British to win the war against the American colonists was proposed by General Howe, who took control of the British forces after the Battle of Bunker Hill. The British were going to march north up the Hudson River Valley, and join forces with the British army moving south out of Montreal. Doing this was trying to make it so it would isolate New England from the rest of the colonies, and with the support of the British navy, Massachusetts could be invaded and subdued from the West. If the Americans didn't surrender, then the British army would turn south and go through New York. The British relied on help from foreign mercenaries, called Hessians, to win the war.

The American soldiers had an advantage since they knew their surroundings of the area. The American's would hide behind bushes and shot people in coverage so the British soldiers wouldn't know where they were shooting from. They would fight in the woods so that they could hide and they attack the soldiers surprisingly. But because of this great advantage, I don't think that the American's would have won if they didn't know the area so well.

How was it that the Continental Army was able to defeat the British Army in the colonies?

The reason that the Continental Army was able to defeat the British in the American Revolutionary War, was because of the distance. Having the British fighting on an unfamiliar territory, having to ship soldiers, weapons, and ammunition across the ocean. Only after a while would the British be losing the war. It was very hard for the British to fight the war in America financially. During the battles, soldiers of the Continental Army could hide in wilderness regions and the British were unable to find them.

Did the American Revolution radically change established ideas or was it something that developed over a long period of time?

The American Revolution was kind of something that developed over a long period of time. The only thing that really changed was the society. The government didn't really change, but it did cause divisions between the population, and it reinforced slavery. There are some things that make it kind of a radical event, but for the most part, I think that it was a conservative event.
