In what ways was the American Revolution a radical event?

The American Revolution wasn't as radical as some people actually thing that it was. Making a commitment to liberty, equality, government of the people, and rule of law were all radical ideas. In response slavery, the subordination of women, and religious intolerance all become a problem without them seeing it when they made decisions. The American Revolution inspired Americans to try and reconstruct their society line with republican principles. It also inspired a lot of Americans to question slavery and other forms of independence.
