How was it that the Continental Army was able to defeat the British Army in the colonies?

The reason that the Continental Army was able to defeat the British in the American Revolutionary War, was because of the distance. Having the British fighting on an unfamiliar territory, having to ship soldiers, weapons, and ammunition across the ocean. Only after a while would the British be losing the war. It was very hard for the British to fight the war in America financially. During the battles, soldiers of the Continental Army could hide in wilderness regions and the British were unable to find them.
